Who are we?
A2 Advanced monitoring offers an exciting opportunity to secure your asset by using a fibre optic cable. In recent years, the use of fibre optic sensors has provided innovative and cost-saving monitoring solutions to a number of projects where conventional systems were inadequate to satisfy the project requirement. The fibre optic cable provides a continuous measurement of temperature and/or strain over a long distance at any location along the cable.
How are we different?
Unlike conventional systems such as thermistors or strain gauges, it provides huge benefits to monitor linear assets such as piles and diaphragm walls, it can also be used for other assets such as tunnels, railway tracks, power cables, pipelines, geogrids in platforms or earthworks. This system has a reliable and long design life, which can be used to reveal structure behaviour for decision making.
Importantly fibre optic cables offers the additional safety benefit of reducing / eliminating manual handing (health and safety) risks on site thanks to its simplified installation method and connections being outside of the reinforcement.
A2AM has both design and construction experience and so is competent in working closely with the project team to offer the most cost-effective and safe monitoring solution for your assets.
Fibre optics based thermal integrity testing
Our Services

Our speciality is to use fibre optic cables to measure the change in temperature as newly placed concrete cures. This method of integrity testing is safer than any other method.

We use fibre optic cables to measure the development of strain as a concrete element is loaded. This is the only instrumentation method which will give a continous reading along the entire length of the element.

In combination with the provision of fibre optic monitoring we can provide all other types of intrumentation.

If a test pile requires fibre optic intrumentation, then we can also provide a full pile load testing package, working in collaboration with our partners.
